I'm actually in a very similar situation. I'm in 10th grade as well, and have always had a 4.40 GPA. I started Guild Wars over 5 months ago (and have ~420 hours). I've noticed that I now have a scheduled time to play, which goes from 8pm to bedtime, and most of my free time is spent playing. Because of this, my grades have been falling a bit (I have three Bs) from lack of effort (I try to save as much work as I can to do at lunch )

As fun as the game is, I almost wish it had never existed so I wouldn't be hooked. Altough recently I went a couple days without playing (due to excessive homework and multiple band rehersals and drumline practices) At least winter break is just around the corner...

Well, I'm a sad case. Because my hobby is Guild Wars & then any left over spare time is running a Guild Wars fansite. So what does that make me? I'm... UBER GEEK.

P.S. Yes I have a life outside of all this

"Can anyone prove me wrong bout this?"

No. I hear yah about the whole family thing.

When I get home, it's a battle. See, Nana likes the sewing forums, but she won't use the old computer to access them. She has to use my tricked-out system because the sewing jpegs look better on my lcd monitor.

Maybe, that is how it is spelt in Norwegian, maybe?

I don't say America or Amerika, I say The States or USA.

Define Nerd if you will?

I can see that GW has definitely affected your spelling ability and that is a sign that YOU should be taking time off the game ;-)

As in all online games you have those that are truly devoted to it and spend far more time than is healthy. In part I'm sure because they are socially challenged, reclusive, easily addicted to the online environment and assumed personalities they develop (nerd as you called it) and for others its thier hobby and a harmless way to spend free time.

And why do you insist on throwing a "U" in where it doesn't belong??

Actually - I was doing some reading about this. There was once a big movement to "simplify the English language" - Daniel Webster was one of the big proponents of it. He proposed, among other things, to get rid of silent letters, redundant letters, etc. Some of the things he pushed for actually took root (like "jail" instead of "gaol") but others didn't (like "groop" instead of "group" or "sox" instead of "socks").

It's actually kind of interesting and amusing....

GW makes me forget to eat. Seriously. I think I've lost about 15 pounds since I started playing in August, and can now fit into clothing sizes I haven't been able to since high school.

Not the healthiest of lifestyles, but I'm having fun.
Yeah this has been happening with me too lately...just can't be bothered cooking.

My situation sux though...I moved to his place where my job is and I don't know anyone here. ANYONE. And I'm not the kinda person that goes to a bar on my own to try and get to know people...I've been unable to join a sports club for the last 9 months (started the job 9 months ago) cos my doctor told me I needed an operation...that operation's now gone but I'm so hooked on GW that I can't be bothered doing sports...

So yeah...work 9:30-5:30 and get home, play GW...forget dinner, cos that's when the Americans start playing (I live in EU), go to bed at 4am cos that's when the Americans go to bed...

I'm not addicted to GW per se, but I do like to play it when I can and do find much enjoyment out of it. I have a life, I have plenty of rehearsals to go to (I'm a stage actor) and can always find the time to go out on a friday night with my friends. While I do consider myself at least partly a nerd/geek whatever the word for it is, I have no problem dragging my 18-year old ass away from my computer to find something to do for a change. Though I won't lie, it does spend much time in front of it. ^_^

I find GW taking more of my time lately. I like to play every evening after work and dinner (food>GW). Between the demands of guildies, friends list and my own character progression needs + time just hanging out and chatting (I love social games!) I never seem to get it all done. Guess I need a 'Time Management for GW' class! Now even the forum is cutting into my time with the RPG thread in Lyssa's Fiction. Luckily I can do some of this from work. *mulls over the idea of getting GW running at work - no......must.......resist*
